Many years in the making, truly alternative, genuinely DIY and proudly unique the Cocoon fest makes its debut at Edinburgh's GRV on the 12th and 13th of September 2009 and with an impressive array of underground music and art pioneers confirmed to join us for our inaugural counter culturally focussed, music-led display:
Jesu - Justin K. Broadrick's shoegaze/doom innovators - play their first show in Edinburgh (yes really!). Another Edinburgh debut from Ex-Iron Monkey / Electric Wizard drum king Justin Greaves' cinematic mercenaries Crippled Black Phoenix (CBP also feature Joe Volk, Dominic Aitchison (Mogwai) & Andy Semmens (Esoteric) on Geoff Barrow's (Portishead) Invada Records). The Cut Hands afro-noise project of William Bennett (Whitehouse) will join the proceedings as does Liverpool based, Nick Cave/Marc Almond collaborator & lo-fi folksy electro innovator Anni Hogan. Plague-ridden death-drone purveyors Wraiths will pull at your stem cells and London-based blissed-out breakcore-ist Project Serendipity comes our way with a visually driven set of blips n beeps. Local funeral doom merchants Of Spire and Throne complete this round of announcements - more to come, soon ...
Also, DJs from Edinburgh's best, truly alternative and innovative club nights Fimbulvetr, The Tomb & Transmit will play music alongside macabre after show antics from alternative variety show Kabarett. There will also be art exhibits from local low-brow and pop surrealist artists, visual cinematic displays, vegan friendly nibbles, a record & arts fare + associated goings on ...

Looks really good - I'll come along. Can we expect many more bands to be announced?
Lots more, hopefully. Not sure what the final count will look like as I'm only spamming out details but there's more in the pipeline, I believe.
